Sysco, a distributor of food products, has different types of jobs available at their warehouses. These positions range from warehouse selector jobs to more specialized positions in operations.
List of Different Sysco Warehouse Positions
Here’s a list of jobs available at Sysco. The list includes short descriptions for each position and the general types of job requirements a potential employee may need to meet.
Warehouse Order Selector - An order selector organizes products, builds customer orders and then puts the orders on pallets. No experience is required, this is an entry level position.
Warehouse Operations Worker - Warehouse operations workers select products from inventory then assemble, pack, and transport products to staging areas for shipment. To qualify for this job you need a high school diploma or equivalent, no experience is generally necessary.
Material Handler - A material handler makes sure that production orders and incoming shipments are received, labeled, loaded, unloaded, racked and/or shipped, correctly. Prerequisite for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent.
Warehouse Loader - A warehouse loader is responsible for general warehouse functions including loading, unloading, manual de-pallet, and receiving. For education and experience you’ll need a high school diploma or GED and possibly six months previous warehouse experience. If you have material handling equipment experience that will be a plus.
Outbound Selector - An outbound selector is responsible for operating an electric pallet jack or forklift. They select products and label them using Sysco Order Selection (SOS) label technology. They then build customer orders on pallets, then deliver the pallets to the dock. Requirements for this job can include 3-6 months of warehouse experience.
Warehouse Clerk - A warehouse clerk supports the warehouse manager and supervisory staff in day to day operations including handling receiving appointments and inventory control. For ths position you’ll need a high-school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of data entry experience may also be required.
Warehouse Supervisor - This position (or Night Warehouse Supervisor) is responsible for supervising the activities associated with day to day warehouse activities. Prerequisites for this position can include a 2 to 4-year college degree in business management or supply chain management.
