There are many different types of Amazon warehouses, each with its own purpose in the logistics chain. Here are some of the jobs you can land at these different Amazon warehouses.
Fulfillment Center Associate
Amazon Fulfillment Centers are the heart of Amazon’s operations. At these facilities, associates:
- Receive and put away inventory
- Prepare customer orders and pack them
- Load boxes onto trucks for shipments
- Use scanners to read barcodes
- View prompts on a screen and follow directions accordingly
- Troubleshoot issues
- Inspect products for quality standards
- Operate Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) and work at heights of up to 35 feet
Delivery Station Associate
Delivery Station Warehouses are the last place a package goes before it gets shipped to a customer. A Delivery Station Associate will:
- Receive and prepare inventory for delivery
- Use technology like smartphones and scanners to sort and prepare orders
- Receive truck deliveries
- View prompts on a screen and follow directions
- Build, wrap, transport, and sort pallets and packages
Grocery Warehouse Associate
At the Grocery Warehouse, associates get shipments ready for grocery stores and send food directly to customers. These associates:
- Load boxes onto trucks for shipment
- Operate Power Industrial Trucks (PIT) and work at heights of up to 35 feet
- Receive and store inventory at room temperature, in chillers, and in freezers
- Work for periods in cold temperatures
- Use technology like smartphones and computers
- Check products for quality control purposes
Sortation Center Associate
Amazon Sortation Centers are where packages go after the fulfillment center, preparing them to be shipped to the right customers. Here associates:
- Receive and sort inventory
- Get orders ready for customers
- Use computers, smartphones, manage apps, and scan bar codes
Amazon Air Associate
As an Amazon Air Associate, you are on a team dedicated to transporting Amazon’s cargo by air. In this position you will:
- Load and unload aircraft and trucks
- Remove and apply tie downs when loading or unloading
- Prepare packages for sortation
- Label, weigh, and create or breakdown gaylords or other air-containers
